On Sunday, January 26, former NBA star Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna Maria-Onore Bryant, and seven other passengers lost their lives in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. They were headed to a basketball game where Gianna’s team was going to play.

Goodbye Payless, The Cheap Shoe Store Has Called it Quits
We continue to hear about all of these businesses closing down. Well, today another company has announced it is calling it quits, and this time it is Payless Shoe Stores. Payless said last week that they have officially closed down for good. The company will shut down over 2,500 stores in North America alone.

Woodridge Teacher Wins Big Award
This week, Woodridge’s very own Ms. Sarah Frayer, 2nd grade teacher, has been named the D.C. Finalist for the Sanford Teacher Award! This is certainly a monumental achievement for Ms. Frayer, our entire school, as well as the Friendship community. Ms. Frayer’s achievement is just one of the many examples of the excellence in teaching that resides within our school.
No Pressure, No Diamonds and We’re Tier 1
Woodridge had a Tier 1 celebration and everyone from our Community office came out. We had a carnival with several different moon bounce machines, game trucks for playing video games, a dance area with live music, and cupcakes.
