On November 13, 2019, Tech Prep’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) went to the Find Your Balance Challenge to find ways to help solve issues in our school and community. One of the many topics running through our minds was emotional health, which we think seems to be a prevalent problem in our community.

Choosing a college, by default, is one of the hardest things for our generation. For many students, it’s challenging because the college you choose will be the place you live for the next four or so years.

Everyone has their own issues. Things like self-confidence, anxiety, putting yourself out there, and maybe being vulnerable can be a struggle for many. Sometimes the person will know that he/she has these issues, while others don’t. These problems, depending on how severe they are, can affect one’s mental health.

Many parents tell me that the decision to skip their child is a big one. I can see why— students who skip are forced to be with older kids, be influenced by them, developing the fear they’ll be put behind because of the material they hadn’t been able to learn and many other reasons.

A good percentage of the world is made up of teenagers. Teenagers go through puberty and may regret a lot of things they do in their teenage life. For one thing, it’s scary for teenagers if they don’t have a plan, as in not having colleges lined up and picked out, not knowing what career to pursue, and not having straight A’s as expected.

TNT! TNT! TNT! Top Notch Titans is the place to be bright and early on Saturday. On November 17, 2018, Tech Prep began the school year’s first TNT Saturday Math Program with a number of scholars ready to learn.

From November 10th through November 12th, 2017, Collegiate and Tech Prep NSBE Jr. members went to the Greensboro, North Carolina convention. It was an amazing experience. We stayed at a beautiful hotel for three days with great food! Who wouldn’t be happy because of that?

October 27, 2017, was the day for those Tech Prep high school students who had perfect attendance during the month of October to get a chance to go to Fright Fest at Six Flags America

The 2017-2018 school year has been here for almost 5 weeks now! Plenty of scholars were very excited because they were able to meet new teachers and finally get to be in a higher grade. Whether you’re a newcomer in high school or middle school or were here last year, you have a brand new set of goals for the school year and a whole new set of challenges.

On July 7, 2017, Tech Prep summer scholars had our incentive for the week. Each student had to make sure they had a complete uniform on, and no detentions for the week.

The weeks of May 1 - May 5, 2017, and May 8 - May 12, 2017, were Teacher Appreciation Weeks, in which we say “thank you” to the wonderful teachers who taught us over the course of the year. My wonderful teachers, Ms. Felder, Mr. Collins, and Ms. Robinson are just some of the amazing sixth grade team that helps all of the sixth-grade scholars.

On October 19, 2016, the sixth graders at Friendship Tech Prep Academy went to Luray Caverns, VA. Luray Caverns has many activities alongside the caves, like rope climbing and the maze. It was a long ride to Luray Cavern’s—about two hours going there and back. When we arrived, we ate lunch.

On September 29th, 2016, FNN Tech Prep had an opportunity to go to the U.S Capitol. While we were there, we had to wait in line to go into a theater to watch video about the importance and the history of the Capitol. When the video finished, we met our proper tour guide....
