Tech Prep Celebrates Dr. Seuss at Friendship Southeast Elementary

Tech Prep Preps for the PSAT/SAT

Creating a World of Opportunity at the Future Business Leaders of America Conference
On Friday, November 3 and Saturday, November 4, 2019, members of Future Business Leaders of America from all across the country met at the Washington Hilton for the 1st National Fall Leadership Conference. There are three cities where members could choose to attend: Washington, DC, Birmingham, Alabama, and Denver, Colorado. So of course, we chose our hometown, Washington, DC.
Tech Prep Student Leaders Experience Leadership Conference in San Antonio
From June 28th - July 3rd, 2019, Tech Prep Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) experienced their first National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas. The conference gives all Future Business Leaders of America students the opportunity to compete in various competitions, network with other business leaders, and experience San Antonio.
A Night to Remember
May 10, 2019, was definitely a night to remember. Why, you ask? It was the FNN Third Annual Awards Ceremony and Dinner. The room was filled with nothing but joy, spirit, and a great smell from delicious food.
Two Great Cities, Two Great Colleges, ONE Friendship
From April 15 - April 17, FNN reporters from Friendship Tech Prep and Friendship Collegiate went on our third annual spring break trip. We were able to visit two wonderful cities, New York City and New Haven, CT. This trip allowed 10th and 11th grade reporters from both schools to explore two different colleges while of course having fun.
Read Across America: FNN Book Club at Southeast Academy
On Friday, March 1, 2019, in celebration of Read Across America, my fellow FNN peers and I went across the street to Friendship Southeast Academy and volunteered to read to students in grades Pre-K3 through 1st grade to celebrate reading and make it interesting and fun for the kids.

This school year, Tech Prep has selected a phenomenal Teacher of the Year nominee. Ms. Clara Epps was voted by many staff members, parents, and students to be this year’s Teacher of the Year. Ms. Epps definitely deserved it and this was a major accomplishment for her.
Young Doctors DC Experience New Orleans
On October 25, 2018, I went with eight other “Young Doctors of DC” on a 15-hour road trip to New Orleans, Louisiana to gain insight on some New Orleans colleges for a symposium on “Changing the Narrative: Black Men in Medicine”.
When is it Going to End
In Washington, DC, mainly Wards 7 and 8, violence has increased tremendously. Many lives, from teenagers to elders, have been taken over ignorant and just dumb stuff.
Technology Can Solve Real-World Issues
On September 8, 2018, scholars from Tech Prep had the chance to join other students from around DC at Mapbox to experience our first hackathon which was called #UnHacktheVote2018. The purpose of the hackathon was to use technology to solve real-world problems.
Tech Prep’s Trip to the Amazing City of New York
On Monday, March 26, 2018, Tech Prep reporters and our advisor, Ms. Sabina Powell, had the opportunity to execute a student-planned trip to Harlem, New York City. We went to the Apollo Theater, had lunch at Sylvia’s and experienced Harlem overall.
Make the Choice to Free Our Voice!
On Wednesday, March 14, 2018, student survivors of the attack at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida called for a nationwide student walkout. Friendship Tech Prep Academy ensured that we were one of those schools who made sure that we were out there to ensure that we “Make the Choice to Free Our Voice”, which was our chant created by 9th grade scholar R’Nasia Murphy.
Designer Uses Dresses to Fight for Civil Rights
In honor of Black History Month, we read a book about an African American major fashion designer. She made fancy party gowns for rich and famous people. She wanted to prove that an African American can be a major dress designer. She was fighting for Civil Rights in her own way. Do you know who she is?
