On March 20th, 2015 Friendship Collegiate Academy hosted its Annual Senior Superlative Show. A senior superlative show is held to a showcase the most popular seniors in school.

A candlelight vigil is an emotional gathering of friends and family celebrating the life and mourning the death of a loved one. Unfortunately my brother’s candlelight vigil was interrupted……

On April 14, 2015 they let the public ride the first 7000 series train as it pulled off from Franconia Springfield Metro Station around 7:17 am. The train was near full capacity after leaving Van Dorn Street Metro Station (the next stop). 

Marion Barry has influenced my life because he has made mistakes that I don't want to make. He  took his education seriously, and he has done a lot for our city. He was loved by his family and his voters. He was well respected by fellow politicians. Here is the reason why….

Her work was original and very odd, but it held strong feelings and memories. She was celebrated in Mexico City as a native artist and has been an inspiration to women worldwide.

On Tuesday February 24, 2015, Friendship Collegiate Academy had its first semester awards ceremony. It took place in the auditorium at 6 pm. In order to get an award, students had to get a 3.0 GPA or higher. The ceremony was run by Mr. Christian Schaefer and Ms. Cherice Greene.

I chose to write about Stuart Scott because I never knew that an anchor or sportscaster can be so iconic and influential in people’s lives.

Ernest Davis is a successful, talented athlete who died young at the age of 23. His legacy of greatness surpassed his death even though he never played a game in the NFL.

Barack Obama was the First African American President of the United States. He brought a lot of inspiration to us. Even though he has a lot of conflict with the Republican Party, he still managed to win both elections and pass groundbreaking legislation.

On January 30, 2015 the principal of Howard University Middle School, Angelique Blackmon, fired three teachers in front of their students for going “overboard” with teaching black history. The teachers were reportedly escorted off of campus by the police in a very unprofessional and upsetting way for the students. 

Friendship Collegiate Academy (FCA) hosted its 3rd annual Alumni Day on Friday, December 19, 2014. The event is held at Friendship Collegiate Academy annually. Its main purpose is for those who have graduated to share their experiences from college and the work force.

On Wednesday, January 14,  Mayor Muriel Bowser hosted the second Google Hangout at Friendship Technology Preparatory Academy. Young men of color from the District’s schools pitched recommendations to Mayor Bowser on ways that the government can help the community. After a difficult 43-8 loss in the Super Bowl, Peyton Manning looks to be starting off on the same foot. In the 2013 season, Peyton broke Tom Brady’s single season touchdown record and Drew Brees’s single season passing yards record. 

The homecoming game was on Nov. 7, 2014 at Spingarn High School and FCA destroyed their opponent 33-6.

The homecoming dance took place November 8th, 2014. The class of 2015 gathered with a few of their younger classmates to enjoy their last homecoming at Friendship Collegiate Academy before going off to college. The students put on their best outfits to fit their all black theme to come out and enjoy themselves.

On October 28, Stedman Graham educator, author, businessman and Oprah Winfrey’s partner came to Friendship Collegiate Academy as part of his Sonima Tour.  A select group of students were able to witness Graham’s motivational speaking skills as he spoke to the Friendship Collegiate Academy students.
