On Friday, February 3rd, 2017, Woodridge Scholars celebrated the 100th Day of School! Scholars in grades PK thru 4 dressed up like they were 100 years old.

On Saturday, January 28, 2017, the Woodridge Dance Team put on their 1st Annual Father Daughter Dance. The dance was held in the gym with decorations like it was a prom. The colors were pink, white and purple.

On Saturday, January 28th, our Lady Eagles Cheerleading Team won 1st place in the Maryland Cup Cheerleading Competition that took place in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. This year’s team had way more synchronization and fewer falls than they did last year.

Once again, President Donald Trump got angry, and this time it was about his inauguration crowd. By now most of his remarks are devoted to attacking the news media. He continues to say that the media is dishonest. 

Do you guys like girls volleyball? Because if you do, here’s news about our Friendship Woodridge Middle School Volleyball Team. This year’s team was very good and they were very close to being in the championship. The 2016-2017 coach is Ms. Woodside. 

On Saturday, January 7th, DC saw snow for the first time in the New Year. It wasn’t much, but a dusting to cover the grass. The streets were treated very well with salt. I think there was more salt than actual snow this time. DC really stepped it up this year by planning ahead. 

January 11, 2017.  Last night’s Golden Globe sparked a lot of attention. Meryl Streep accepted the Cecil B. De Mille Award for excellence in acting and performing in roles that have won her a number of Oscars. 

On Thursday, December 8th, the art and music department put on a spectacular winter concert! Mr. Terrell, the art teacher put on a jaw dropping art display. There were pictures of snowflakes, Santa Claus, and candy canes throughout the auditorium.... 

Are you late getting your Christmas shopping complete? Sounds much like thousands of people just a week before Christmas. Don’t panic, there is still time to put a smile on your child’s faces. There is no need to spend long hours in a mall and going from store to store looking for that special toy for that picky child.

The entire Pre-K classes at Woodridge baked up goodies and sweets for the holiday season. Posters were displayed all over the school to announce delicious treats made by three and four year olds along with their parents. Home-baked goods will always sell best and taste best. 

Friendship Woodridge 7th and 8th graders wrote a letter to President Barack Obama explaining how the students felt about Columbus Day. Many scholars contemplated if there was even a point to write to President Obama. Why? He’s the president, and he may not get the letters or even reply....

The Friendship Woodridge Academy honored its student athletes during their annual athletic banquet on Thursday, May 26, 2016.  The athletes were awarded for dance, basketball, volleyball, flag football, track, and cheerleading.

Video games, video games, video games! That’s all kids are talking about. But what if there was a place where you could play video games for hours at a time, not get into any trouble, or even have to sneak around to do it? What about at school? At Woodridge, there’s a room where scholars can play all the games they want until 6pm!

Parents and Children swarmed the Woodridge booth at the DC Armory on Saturday, December 12, when temperatures usually are far below thirty degrees. But this past week, a surprisingly winter weekend hit record temperatures of 77 degrees....

On December 1, 2015, the Woodridge staff participated in an awesome and fun spirit week. Each day grade level teams and staff members participated in a competitive fashion event during spirit week....

Will Friday ever get here? That’s what so many die hard Star Wars fans are saying. This Friday, December 18th, 2015, The Force Awakens will finally be released....

At Friendship Woodridge Academy, one of our long-time "Professional Eagles" received her degree. It was a long journey along the way, but with nothing but her books by her side, Ms. Denise Graham received her degree in Early Childhood Education. She is a para-professional here at Woodridge working with our PK3 and PK4 classes.

In April 2015, 2nd and 4th grade students did book reviews in the library. The library is more exciting than regular class because in the library you can read any book you want. We like to read fiction, fairy tales, and folktale books. We get to search for books and we get to check books out.
