Cierra Lynn is a single mother and artist who lives in Washington, DC. Cierra prides herself on uplifting students with positive messages. She wants scholars in school to feel good. I firmly believe that the artist does not wish for kids to be bullied or feel bad about themselves.

Do the people at your middle school get iPads and computers? Well here at Woodridge International, students are soaring high with their tech! Now at Woodridge 6-8th graders get iPads and 5th grades gets computers.

Megan Pete, better known as Megan Thee Stallion, is an American 24-year-old rapper, songwriter, singer, and actress. She premiered in a series called “Hottieween”. She has albums such as Tina Snow, and Fever. She is working on a degree in Health Administration as a third year college student.  

Have you ever wondered what happened to the descendants of Harriet Tubman? Well, look no further - two of Harriet Tubman’s descendants are here at Friendship Woodridge! One of her great-nieces is Maddison Lewis, she is in the seventh grade and the other great-niece is Mackenzie Lewis, who is in the fourth grade.

Can you believe a four-year-old wrote a book? Yes, this is true! You might have heard of this on social media or even the news. A four-year-old girl, Parker Curry, who lives in Washington, DC, did not know her face would be seen around the world on a visit with her mom to the National Portrait Museum. 

Do you remember when you were little and used to sit in front of the TV for hours just watching your favorite Sesame Street characters? Chances are that you don’t, but either way, it was probably nothing compared to what Sesame Street has decided to tackle this time. 

Once again another retail store is closing its doors. Why? It probably has a lot to do with all of the online shopping and new clothing stores popping up everywhere digitally.

On Saturday, March 30th, the elementary cheerleaders got a chance to cheer their hearts out! We embarked on an exciting challenge for the first time going to an actual Cheer Starz Varsity Competition and competed for the first time at the junior high school division level!

We continue to hear about all of these businesses closing down. Well, today another company has announced it is calling it quits, and this time it is Payless Shoe Stores. Payless said last week that they have officially closed down for good. The company will shut down over 2,500 stores in North America alone.

Has anyone heard about the government shutdown? Approximately 33 days ago President Donald Trump decided to shut down the government for border security. I recently heard on the news that roughly 800,000 people have lost their jobs or have been affected by this shut down.

I don’t think anyone knows how to spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious or even a simple word like sagacity. How many people can really spell today? It really doesn’t matter anymore with Spell Check. Spell Check fixes your mistakes so you never have to worry about not knowing the real spelling of the word. In second grade, spelling was something that was super important.

Remember H&M’s “Coolest Monkey in the Jungle” hoodie everyone thought was offensive because the company put a dark skinned boy in a hoodie that called him a monkey? Now what is even more offensive is that the luxury, high-end designer company Prada had the audacity to release a keychain that sort of looks like a monkey.

Many adults and children share the same types of problems but they don’t know how to solve them. I will be sharing with you some ways to help eliminate stress in two areas.
