On Tuesday, December 17, 2019, the Blow Pierce Arts Department hosted an incredible winter showcase called Arctic Chill. The students and teachers hosted a daytime show for students and staff and an evening show for family and friends.

On Saturday, January 18th, 2020, FCA's Roboknights battled high schools across the DMV to take first place in the VEX Robotics Competition in Collegiate’s gym.

On November 13, 2019, Tech Prep’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) went to the Find Your Balance Challenge to find ways to help solve issues in our school and community. One of the many topics running through our minds was emotional health, which we think seems to be a prevalent problem in our community.

On February 26, 2012, twenty nine year old George Zimmerman shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin while he was just simply walking home from a corner store. Zimmerman  went to trial for Trayvon’s death on June 10, 2013 but all of the charges were later dropped on June 13, 2013

One day as I was sitting down to watch the news about Donald Trump getting impeached, I wondered if people really know what impeachment means.

Have you ever had a break packet? During long or short breaks from school, most students receive them. On average these packets for a week off of school are about 4 pages per each core subject. According to the Los Angeles Times, each packet takes about 60 to 90 minutes to complete, and only about 75% of children complete them.

When you were a child, did you ever feel like nobody listened to you? Did you feel that your voice was muted? Well, a nationwide competition called Mikva Soapbox Challenge is finally stressing the importance of letting kids speak up. And luckily for the competition, it had a surplus of participants in the DMV area!

Now that it’s the beginning of the year it’s time to sign up for after school clubs. Many girls are interested in joining the Girl Scouts club, but not everybody will be able to join. 

On December 4, 2019, 19th Street’s FPCS Blow Pierce’s girls and boys basketball teams welcomed 19th Street’s Monument Public Charter School boys and girls basketball teams into our school’s gym for a basketball tournament like no other. With both school’s being located on 19th Street, “The Showdown” was created to heighten the hype around winning this game for both schools.

On Saturday, January 11th, FCA's varsity Lady Knights had little trouble defeating Basis with their persistence and teamwork. They crushed their opponents, 66-1.

I have been cheering with the Rosedale Tigers competitive cheerleading team for two years. I started cheering because I wanted something fun and nice to do during my spare time. Ever since I started cheering, I have heard conversations about whether or not cheerleading is a sport.

12/18/2019  As the year came to an end and winter break gets near, the FPCS Blow Pierce Campus hosted a spirit week to spread the holiday cheer! One of the spirit weekdays was titled “Winter White Wednesday”. On this day, students, teachers, and staff wore all-white or mostly white and participated in a snowball fight.

On Saturday, January 4, 2020, FCA Knights took on Lanham Christian in Collegiate's gym garnering a narrow loss of 54-59.

On December 17th, 2019, Friendship Collegiate Academy hosted its Annual Alumni Day when past graduates return to inspire by sharing their experiences and giving advice to future FCA graduates.

What is vaping and why has it been in the news lately? According to the Washington Post, more than 1,000 people have fallen ill due to vaping.The youngest patient that the Federal Center for Disease Control and Prevention has reported suffering with symptoms was 13 years old.
