The Challenges of Performing “The Black Wax Museum of Excellence”

On March 5, 2025, Dr. Latasha Williams hosted the Black History production at Friendship Collegiate Academy called “The Black Wax Museum of Excellence.” The goal of the museum was to show the significance and importance of Black culture. My classmates and I were able to head down and watch. Upon arrival, I noticed a lot of amazing things, such as the actors practicing. When the performance started, I noticed many incredible actors, including Daniel Shuler as Quincy Jones and Laniyah Streater as Ruby Bridges. Overall the Black History Wax Museum was great. Dr. Williams and the other cast members did an extraordinary job putting it together.

While the show was highly enjoyable there was some room for improvement. For instance at times, the mic did cut out leaving the actors and audience confused. Next year they should test the microphones in order to make sure that they are working correctly.

Overall the performance of the actors were great, but there were some flaws with the technology that can be fixed by next year's production.
